Greetings Brethren,
Another Scottish Rite Year is upon us! I hope all enjoyed a great summer and are ready for an exciting autumn.
As we begin another year in the Valley of Syracuse, I would like to give thanks to the Retiring Presiding Officers for their service to our Valley: Brothers Mark Bombardo, Kevin Parker and Ill. Robert Tyrrell. Their hard work ensured that last year was very successful..
I would also like to thank Brother Carlton Jackson who continues for another year as Most Wise Master along with Brother Jack Dombrowski as Thrice Potent Master and Brother Bob Boutell as Sovereign Prince—please assist them in their duties should they call upon you.
Extreme thanks to our office staff , Ill. Brother James Swan Jr. 33°, Valley Secretary, Sharon Swan, and Sharon Fox for their dedication and hard work. A lot goes into every Scottish Rite event, please assist them by getting your reservations for dinners in on time.
One of our most important philanthropies is the Children's Dyslexia Center of Central New York, located in Oriskany. On October 3rd, we have our 10th annual Walkathon and Chicken BBQ. Please reach into your hearts and support this event..
Our 2015-2016 Scottish Rite Degrees are set. In the fall, we will present 4°, 14° and 29° while the spring will see 4°, 7°, 14°, 15° and 18°. The 32° will be presented on November 12, 2015 all across the United States as the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction and the Southern Jurisdiction present that degree simultaneously. Now is the time my brothers to start looking for new Scottish Rite members. We begin with our Fall Kickoff Dinner on Monday, September 21st. All Masons are invited - if you are not yet a Scottish Rite Mason, please contact our office about attending.
There is also an All Officers Training Meeting on Saturday, September 21st at 8:30 AM. I ask that all Officers make it a priority to attend.
Finally, I am pleased to announce that Brothers David A. Barnello and Kevin M. Cobb were elected at the 2015 NY COD Annual Convocation to receive the NY Council of Deliberation Meritorious Service Award at the 2016 Council of Deliberation Convocation at the Double Tree by Hilton in East Syracuse on October 1, 2016. When you see these Brothers, please offer your congratulations.
We look forward to seeing each and every one of you at the Valley of Syracuse this year. Come see what we are all about.

Notes from the Children’s Dyslexia Center CNY
It is so hard to believe that we have completed our tenth year with our program. The Recognition Ceremony was wonderful, as always, with two of the young people who competed our program speaking. David and Abby gave our current attendees words of wisdom and insight that were appreciated by all. We were also privileged to have a Graduate (having reached grade level in all areas of reading instruction) this year. Courtney worked very hard and did a wonderful job making this achievement.
Nathaniel has completed his two years with us but will continue to work with his tutor on a private basis. They are fortunate to live near each other and have a great rapport which will help Nathaniel continue to move forward with his reading.
The summer program is about to come to an end with good results for all attending. Time always goes by so quickly but we continue to make forward progress. As always, we have been busy making plans for the upcoming year. Our new class of scholars has completed the initial three days of training and required observations of certified tutors. The families for those children who will be entering the program for the first time have been contacted and schedules are set for the fall. I will be letting you know about one of our new children when we return in October.
Please keep us on your Calendar for the Walk-a-Thon on Saturday, October 3rd and the Barnes and Noble Bookfair scheduled for Saturday, October 17th. These are two of our major fundraisers and we appreciate your support of them.
Finally, I would like to add my Thanks to all the Brothers and friends who joined us at the 3rd Teddy Bear Classic. The weather and venue at Vesper Hills Golf Course (my old homestead) was phenomenal. I can't wait for next year!
Feel free to contact up with any questions you might have and/or call us to set up a visit.

Greetings one and all,
It is definitely hard to believe that we are into August and soon will be starting a new Scottish Rite year come September. It is also hard to believe that Children’s Dyslexia Center-Central New York begins its eleventh year of operation when we resume on 9/21. It is shaping up to be another exciting year.
Currently there are three new scholars that will be learning new skills to work with dyslexic children. At the recognition ceremony held in June, four scholars earned were presented their certificates. (Their pictures are on the Valley’s web site as well as www.cnyclc.org and www.cnyclc.wordpress.org sites.)
With these three scholars and our returning tutors, we hope to provide assistance to 21-24 children. Our budget for the ensuing year is: $105,601.00. This provides for our Director, administrative staff (receptionist), five paid tutors, taxes, technical purchases, repairs, upgrades, educational supplies, equipment leases(copier/fax/scanner) conference/meetings, promotion & publicity, phone, internet/cable,
We are assuming it is approved as Lexington has not said no at this point. It is your generous help and support that make the Center happen each year. By the time you receive this, we will have completed our 3rd Annual Teddy Bear Classic at Tully, NY. Pictures and details will be forthcoming. Watch the web sites/blog page for updates.
If you have been on any of the web or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Childrens-Dyslexia-Center-Central-New-York-CNY103) pages you may have noticed reference to Goodsearch and Goodshop. By signing up and using these to either do web searches or online buying, you can help bring in some much needed $ to apply to the program.
Our 10th Annual Walk to Help Children with Dyslexia is forthcoming in October as well. Pamphlets are available at the Valley office, online at web sites for Utica, Syracuse and the Learning Center, Facebook page, and blog page. Check it out! Set the date aside (10/3), come enjoy the leisurely walk (3.5-5 k), enjoy the bake sale and bbq @ 11 am, (Hopefully no rain this year!)
