Sublime Princes,
Our reunion witnessed the conferral of degrees, but more important than that, we knighted new Sublime Princes of the Royal Secret. I thank all the Brothers from Syracuse, Utica and Norwood who took part in the degrees. Our combined effort shows the health of our Fraternity. I especially thank the new Brothers knighted this year as part of the Illustrious Carl Fahrenkrug class, the 200th anniversary of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. The future of our Valley and the Rite depends on you. I belong to those who got us to where we are. Where we go in our future together depends on your vision, your energy and your dedication to live the obligations all Masons share.
May brings the Guards Club dinner and annual meeting to elect officers. Do make the effort to attend this meeting. This will be a momentous event for me. My term as Commander-in-Chief is ending. Illustrious Robert Tyrell has been nominated to assume leadership of this Valley. I give my prayers to Bob and to all the officers who will be elected and appointed. You will bring honor to our tradition and our future works in this valley. As for me, I am looking forward to being the “Junior Past” and seeing the world from the sidelines.
God bless you all, and carry on your best work in the name of the Great Architect of the Universe.

Chapter
Greetings,
The work of our Valley is drawing to a close and I want to thank all the dedicated members of the Valleys’ of Norwood and Utica for their assistance in helping to put on the Degrees this past year. I look forward to meeting these fine Brothers again in the future.
I want to thank those of you that helped make the programs that were the responsibility of The Chapter of Rose Croix successful. A lot of teamwork went into the programs we enjoyed over the last two years and I was extremely blessed to have had good mentors to guide me in the right direction. Sharon and Jim Swan, and Sharon Fox really know how to make our events extra special. I cannot thank them enough for the work they have done for Rose Croix the past two years. I will not try to acknowledge everyone that helped the Chapter for fear of forgetting someone. I will not forget you.
The annual meeting and Elections will be May 13th, 2013.Dinner will be at 6:30 pm, followed by the meeting at 7:30 pm.
I look forward to the success of the fine officers of The Chapter of Rose Croix that will be installed on May 18th, 2013. I have been fortunate to follow some fine Brothers during my Masonic career and have tried to maintain the standards they have set. I hope I lived up to their expectations and will continue to do so in the future.

Council
Greetings Brethren from the Council Princes of Jerusalem. The work of the Valley of Syracuse is almost completed for this year’s session. The Reunion that took place on April 27th saw Brothers from the 200th Anniversary of the NMJ class of three Valleys complete their requirements to become 32nd degree Masons. Congratulations to one and all.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Brothers in the Valleys of Syracuse, Norwood, and Utica who gave their time this past year to make the experience for these Brothers happen. It is your presence and dedication that make the Scottish Rite what it is. To the outgoing Body heads, thank you for your commitment this past year. To the outgoing Commander, thank you for your guidance and leadership. I would like to also like to give a big THANK YOU to Jim, Sharon, and Sharon of the Valley office staff for making all that happens go a lot smoother. Your encouragement and guidance has been priceless.
The annual Guards Club Dinner (6:30) and All Bodies Annual Meeting (7:30) will be on May 13th. All officers and Brothers should make plans to attend. The slate of new officers for the upcoming 2013 – 2014 year will be installed on June 3rd in open form. Hope to see you there.

Lodge
Greetings Brethren.
Is it possible that Spring may finally be here? I sure hope so.
As my term as Thrice Potent Master comes to an end, I would like to thank all the Lodge of Perfection Officers for their ongoing support. A special “Thank You” goes out to all those members who took part in the 4°, 5°, and 14°. I am sure you enjoyed taking part in these degrees and urge you to continue to participate in future degree work.
I offer congratulations to the members of the class of 2013. I urge you to find the way to become an active member of the Valley of Syracuse. You will enjoy every minute of it.
Please keep all those who are serving our Country both at home and those who are in harms way in your prayers.

Hospitaler
Brothers,
Thank you for the privilege of serving you as Hospitaler. It is hard to believe this experience began one cold spring evening carpooling with Brother Sandy Samson to Bro. Charlie Victory’s Masonic funeral. Charlie previously served as the Hospitaler and his passing created a vacancy in the Lodge room and an empty spot in our hearts.
The Valley will elect a new Hospitaler at our annual meeting, and I know he will do a great job. He can count on my support in his less-noticed duties and my willingness to canvas the brethren with the offering cans. The money you gave helped several worthy brothers who needed aid meeting their dues, aided the Council of Deliberation’s Hospitaler Fund support our brothers affected by Hurricane Sandy and assisted the occasional Brother, widow or orphan who applied for our help, aid and assistance. Your continued support will help the new Hospitaler keep helping us help others.
Finally, I thank our Secretary, Illustrious James D. Swan, for his efforts in making my work easier and making life less hassled for some of our most senior brothers. Jim helped many senior (and homebound) members receive the status they need to reduce their dues obligations. I appreciate what Jim has done, and I am sure those who receive this benefit appreciate it, too.

Burns Brunch & Scottish Games
The Knights of St. Andrew have been talking about holding a summer event since we didn’t hold a Burns Supper in January. We propose that we will hold a Burns Brunch (at a location to be announced later) on the morning of the CNY Scottish Games (Saturday August 10th). The plan would be for a brunch to be held at a local establishment following a similar format to the Burns Supper. Cost for the brunch would include a ticket for admission to that day’s CNY Scottish Games at Longbranch Park in Liverpool. The Games features bagpipe & dancing competitions, Celtic music and a variety of gift and food options for the afternoon. It will make for a great day!
