Greetings Brothers,
This will be my last news article. I have not much to report. Carlton Jackson will assume the duties of Most Wise Master on June 6th, as will the other members of the line.
We had a great turnout in Utica, and the Degree Work went off without any problems.
Once again, I wish to thank all of you for the support that you gave me during my tenure.
Fraternally,

Council
Greetings once again Brothers,
As one of my last duties as an outgoing body head, I write this – my last article.
To those of you whom I have had the privilege of serving with during my term, I thank you for your companionship, guidance, and inspiration. To Jim, Sharon, and Sharon, THANK YOU for keeping me on track and for your unending support. How fortunate we are in this Valley to have such jewels.
To the new line of officers for the upcoming year, thank you for your commitment. The success of this organization now rests on your shoulders. I hope your terms are as rewarding as mine and you come to hold this experience in high regard. To all my new Brothers, get involved. There is much joy in being part of the works of the Valley.
The last event of this spring session of the Valley will be the installation of officers on June 2nd. Although there is a short summer respite, there are still important events that you as Valley members should take note of. July 25 -27 brings the Council of Deliberation, being held here in Syracuse.
August 8th brings the Teddy Bear Golf Tournament whose proceeds help support the Children’s Dyslexia Center of CNY - our Scottish Rite Charity. Make your plans to be part of this event. Also, August brings the Safety I.D. program to the NYS Fair. Plan on working the booth on the 24thwith your Valley Brothers.
Until we next meet – may good health and good fortune come your way.

Greetings Brethren
This will be my final article as Thrice Potent Master of the Lodge of Perfection. I would sincerely like to thank all of those who have supported me throughout this past year. I have had an excellent line of Officers who have worked with me and supported me and it is greatly appreciated. I am sad to say that our Deputy Master, Brother Rolfe Schwedes was taken ill at the beginning of our term and never fully recovered, passing away in March. He would have been the next TPM and he will be greatly missed. A huge thanks goes to our Directors Ill Richard J. Powell, 33°, 1st Lt. Commander [4th Degree], Ill Craig E. Cobb, 33°, [9th Degree] and Ill Gary S. Hartman,33° [14th Degree] and to their Casts for another year of excellent Degree Conferrals. Special thanks goes to our Secretary Ill James D. Swan, 33°, Sharon Swan and Sharon Fox whose help and guidance is immeasurable in planning and presenting the agenda, program and refreshments for each degree. Thank you to our Commander in Chief, Ill Robert M. Tyrrell, 33° for always being available to help, assist and guide whenever needed.
I urge all the Brothers who were first line signers of our 2014 new Sublime Princes of our Valley to keep in touch with them and encourage their participation as the Fall session begins. Remember officers chairs, hats, aprons, opening, closing etc. are all different from Blue Lodge and foreign to our new Brothers. Help them to learn and feel comfortable in our Valley. Be their Mentor and they will keep coming.
Several important dates to remember this Summer are NYS Council of Deliberation July 25-27, at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool and on the first Sunday of the NYS Fair is Scottish Rite Day at the Safety ID Booth. The Lodge of Perfection will be staffing the morning session. More information to follow.
I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Summer. See you in the Fall.

Greetings Brethren,
Another Masonic year is winding down, and I would like to recognize the Valley Officers and thank them for another fine job.
St. John’s Day is fast approaching, and if you plan on attending, please allow time to visit the residents at the Masonic Care Community.
Many of our lodges will soon be going dark for the summer, but the Hospitaler is on call throughout the year. Please keep me informed of any Brother in need of our aid or sympathy, or a close family member. Feel free to contact me at 315-837-4962 or email me at [email protected]
Have a GREAT summer and please stay healthy.

Notes from the Children’s Dyslexia Center CNY
It is a busy time at the Center these days- Scholars are making sure they have all of their work done and their practicum hours completed. Children are busy with sports and we are often rearranging schedules. I am fitting in a post-assessment on every child (except one young man who joined us late March) as well as entering all of that information into Lexington’s database, and, scheduling meetings with each family to discuss the results of the year with them, the child and the tutor. We are also planning our summer program, the Recognition Ceremony and recruiting new scholars for next year’s program. Of course we are continually processing new applications for children hoping to attend our program. The wait list is now nearing three years- If only we had more people willing to take the training and work with the children- if only privately!
The Board is busy with Fund Raising activities- Hopefully we will see you at the Golf Tourney this summer and/or the Walk-a-Thon in October. October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and we plan to continue our Fund Raising efforts with a Book Fair at the Barnes & Noble store in New Hartford, NY. More information will be coming out on these activities.
If you have been following these missives you will be interested to know that Nathaniel will have his post assessment early this month and has been coming more often to make up sessions with his tutor. His mother brought in his latest school report this past week. As you may recall, his teacher was a bit impatient with his progress and, according to Nathaniel’s mother, the teacher expressed less than complimentary comments about Orton-Gillingham based approaches. Of course, we are an Orton-Gillingham based program with a strong multi-sensory component which makes everything so successful. Nathaniel’s new report has the teacher changing her mind about the validity of our program as Nathaniel has made great strides in his school work. We will be excited to share Nathaniel’s results at the Center in our next report.
As always, we send our continued Thanks for your support.

Knight of the Double Eagle
Sublime Princes,
Last September I started an experiment using an idea borrowed from the Valley of Schenectady. Our brothers in Schenectady have a program called “Knight of the Double Eagle.” Knights of the Double Eagle receive recognition for attending meetings, being the first line signer of membership petitions, participating in degrees, holding office in the Valley, even paying their dues in a timely fashion. The valley’s secretary made this program sound very interesting–and possibly a tool for keeping members active and interested in Scottish Rite.
I completed a one-year trial of tracking attendance, participation in degrees and holding office. This idea is a good one for helping brothers stay active in Scottish Rite. I expect to see the first Knights of the Double Eagle recognized at awards night next September. The first level attained will be honored with a lapel pin. Future milestones will be honored with neckties, a different color for each milestone. (The Commander-in-Chief and I thought ties would get more use by the brothers than a jewel as awarded in the Valley of Schenectady.)
Every brother in the Valley is a potential Knight of the Double Eagle. Here’s to seeing many brothers achieve that recognition.
