Greetings Brethren,
As winter settles in the Valley of Syracuse is as busy as ever. We continue with our Sandy Samson 33rd Degree class. We resume degrees as follows.
Jan 26th will be our 4th and 6th degree. Both will be presented in DVD format. We will hold a special election this evening to fill the position of 2nd Lieutenant Commander. This is to replace Distinguished Brother Allan Ferguson who had to resigned. We all wish Brother Allan the very best in all his future endeavors. Allan was well thought of by all, and he will be missed.
February 16th will be our Sweetheart Program. Social will be at 6, dinner at 6:30, followed by entertainment and a short presentation at 7:30. Make your reservations with the office.
February 23rd will be the 14th degree. This is one of the most impressive degrees and our signature degree. Conferral will be at 7:30 followed by refreshment.
Looking ahead to March we will present the 16th degree on March 9th, and March 23rd will be our annual Historical program at 7:30. Hope to see you in Scottish Rite !

Greetings Brothers,
In January we had our spring membership with our Ladies and was a real nice time. The two degrees presented later in the month were well done and quite a learning experience. February brings our Sweetheart Program on the 16th: Social @ 6:00 pm/Dinner @ 6:30pm/Program @ 7:30 pm. Hopefully all can make it. February 23rd will be conferral of the 14th degree, also a great one to see with refreshments to follow. Hope to see you soon. May you and yours be safe until we meet again

Greetings Brethren,
We had a wonderful and very informative program presented by Ill G. Michael Morris, 33 at our Annual Spring Membership Program and Ladies Night on January 12th, many thanks to Ill G. Michael Morris, 33. Again the Council will be presenting the 16th Degree on March 9th and again I will be calling on our Officers to take a part first, like we did for the 15th Degree and again we can get 100% participation. Stay safe and healthy my Brothers.

I hope that everyone is keeping warm this winter. In January we had our Spring Membership Night and we also conferred the 4th and 6th Degrees.
As we look forward into February, make sure you get your reservations in for our annual Sweetheart Program on February 16th then we will be conferring the 14th Degree on February 23rd. FYI…Valentine's Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentine or Valentinius who by all stories is said to be a sympathetic hero and the stories display him in a romantic light. The history and legends of the St. Valentine is clouded in the fogs of history. The most popular myths surround men who stood up against the persecution of the Roman Emperor Claudius II (also known as Claudius Gothicus). The story of Valentine of Rome is one that states he assisted the persecuted and when captured refused to turn away from his Christian faith. It is also said he tried to convert the Emperor over to Christianity and for such insolence he was beaten with clubs before being beheaded which was said to have occurred on February 14th, in either 269 or 270.

Greetings Brethren,
Due to the Holiday and family commitments, I have not been able to visit at the Masonic Care Community yet this year. I have spoken with our Tiler Mel Sitts, and he is feeling much better after a long struggle with some ongoing health issues. Mel says to be looking for him at Valley meetings soon, and thanks everyone for their get well wishes and prayers.
I have also been communicating with Norman Kruth . He sounds upbeat and positive….keep up the good work Norm! And all of you need to make health your number I priority, without it…little else matters
If you are having any health or personal issues that we may be able to assist you with, feel free to contact me at 315-837-4962 or email me at [email protected]

Happy 2015
Here it is, 2015, our Tenth year. I know I give you these numbers periodically but I think it warrants bringing them up to date at this time. (Besides, we have just returned from our Holiday Break and I don’t have much else I can tell you until the next time)
I want you to bear in mind that for the first few years our major campaign was to get our name out to the public and for me to complete my training so we could begin to build up a tutor pool and add more children to our roster. We have facilities to have 10-12 tutors and 24-25 children any given year. At present we have four paid tutors, one volunteer tutor and four scholars working to become certified tutors. Here are the numbers from the beginning:
Applications received: 170*
*some awaiting documentation
Children accepted: 152
Children who withdrew from the Waitlist: 19
Children on the Waitlist: 17
(Average length of time on the waitlist is 10.9 months – realistic time at present is 18+ mos.)
Children beginning the program: 116*
*2 children returned for a third year -one year after completing their first enrollment.
Children who Graduated: 8
Children who completed: 87
Current number of Children: 19
Number of scholar applicants: 37*
*Four in training now
Number of tutors Certified: 33
So there you have it- quite a legacy to live up to- One of these days I will break this out by year for you-
As always- Thank You for your continued support as we look forward to our second decade.
