The Children's Dyslexia Center of Central New York is a free service for children with dyslexia, serving Syracuse, Utica, Rome, and all of Central New York We are located at 8280 State Route 69, on the grounds of the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany, NY.
We encourage anyone who has, or knows of, a school-age child who is struggling to keep up because of poor reading and writing skills to contact the Center for an application.
We also invite interested persons to contact us for information regarding future training classes for tutor/scholars. Information sessions for upcoming tutor/scholar training classes are held each spring.
Their mission is to provide the highest quality multi-sensory reading and written language tutorial services for children with dyslexia through a network of nationally recognized center of excellence, to offer training and certification in the Orton-Gillingham method for tutor/scholars, to continue to support clinical research programs that focus on dyslexia.
The Children's Dyslexia Center generally follows the academic schedule, starting in the fall and continuing until spring. Our hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 1-6 pm. Children come for tutoring twice a week after school. There is a five week summer session for those children who wish to continue. Generally we are closed from mid June to mid July and from mid August to mid September.
