Consistory
Brothers,
I thank all the people who helped us carry out all the activity we accomplished during November, from Sublime Prince Dave Barnello and the cast of the 16th degree, to our Brothers from Norwood who conferred the 18th degree, to Illustrious Gary Hartman and the cast of December’s Rose, to all the hands that worked on our veterans’ program and awards night. I especially commend the newly-knighted Brothers who helped confer the 5th degree in October. Taking an early and active part in our work revitalizes everyone! Finally, I offer my congratulations again to the Brothers who received the DSA, Distinguished Brother Mel Sitts (who received his red hat) and the Sublime Princes who received their diplomas at the awards ceremony. This Valley works with the hearts and hands of everyone, not just the Commander-in-Chief.
I remind you of our holiday gathering on December 10 and the program to accompany it. We are looking for a pleasant and relaxed event to set the mood for the holidays. We will also have a luncheon at the Twin Trees III restaurant in North Syracuse on Friday, December 28. Gathering time is 11:30 AM. We will order from the menu, each person at his own cost and to his own taste. This event is usually small, but a good time to cement brotherly connections with the men in the Valley.
Finally, Denise and I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah or glad Kwanzaa or the holiday you wish to celebrate. Free and Accepted Masons accept the faith each man brings to God. Some people jokingly speak of HanaChristmaKwanzaa for the season. Others wish you season’s greetings. Each holiday is precious, much more so than a “season’s greeting” can state. My Lady and I urge you to keep your holiday holy the way you see best. May God bless you, and bless you again with a New Year filled with love and opportunity.

Greetings,
To all my Masonic Ladies and Brothers, Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas this Holiday Season. It is my wish that you get the opportunity to spend time with your loved ones. Those of you who are travelling, I hope you have a safe journey to and from you destinations.
On December 10th we have the annual Holiday Celebration with the Ladies. As usual social will be @ 6:00, dinner @ 6:30 and program @ 7:30. The bell choir we enjoyed so much last year will be giving us an encore performance. Bring your friends and families along for an evening of pure joy of this beautiful music. Be sure to get your reservations into the office with your check so you can enjoy a delicious dinner and evening with good friends.
February 11th will be our Sweetheart dinner and program so mark your calendars now lest you forget.
I want to thank both Sharon Fox and Sharon Swan for all the hard work they perform to help our Valley succeed in our programs as well as we do. Thank you Jim Swan and all the Body heads for all you do for the Valley of Syracuse.
I want to thank all the Members who take parts in our Degree work for their dedication to The Valley of Syracuse. On March 9th we will present the 18th degree in the Valley of Utica. I will be calling on cast members who are familiar with this degree to take parts again as well as any new Brothers who are interested in participating in this degree. Do not hesitate to contact the office or me to let us know if you are interested in any of our degree work.

Brethren,
My message for this holiday season is simple. Share your blessings with those who may not be as fortunate. This holiday season is the best time to show your love of mankind. Give a two-way gift. Find a charitable organization that you would like to support, and give a gift of food, clothing, or time. Imagine the joy felt by a family as they sit down to a holiday meal that would not been possible without your donation, or the warmth felt by someone who was cold before they wore the clothing you provided, or the glow on the face of someone as they shared time talking about their life, when before, you were not there to talk to. These gifts are meaningful. These gifts are lasting. These gifts are worth giving.

I would guess that by now you have had your fill of turkey and are really looking forward to those hectic shopping days for the upcoming holidays.
December is a relatively quite month for the Valley of Syracuse except for the Holiday Celebration at the Masonic Memorial Center with the ladies on
December 10th. I urge you all to attend as this promises to be an outstanding evening of entertainment.
On December 28th there will be a Holiday Luncheon at the Twin Trees Restaurant in North Syracuse starting at 11:30 a.m. This will be a casual attire, order from the menu event.
Both Chris and I wish you and yours a very joyous Holiday Season. May The Good Lord watch over you and keep you safe till we meet again.

Hospitaler
Brother Sublime Princes,
The Hospitaler normally sees to the needs of our Brothers in need and distress and their families within the limits of our funds and time. The job is a sort of fix-and-go business: we fix what we can and go on with life as usual. It is what I do as a Methodist minister and as a volunteer firefighter. The truth of life, though, is that sometimes life cannot go on as usual. Sometimes we have to think about the days we want to ignore.
I thank Bro. Dick Freeman and his wife, Diane, for engaging an issue most people want to avoid. They have become strong advocates for organ donation. They tell the story much better than I, but the facts are simple: untold numbers of people wait for a second chance at life through the transplant of a kidney, liver, skin, bone or pancreas. I think of the miraculous heart and lung transplants doctors are able to perform--but cannot because they lack no donor organs.
The winter holidays are approaching when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus and Jews honor the rededication of the Temple after its desecration. Sharing gifts is part of what we do. Take a few moments to give life by becoming an organ donor. It is simple to do--and it may save a life, restore eyesight, help a burn victim heal . . . The list goes on. It really is a way to give yourself to others!
