Consistory
Brethren,
We are closing in on the date for our reunion on April 27. Please note the times for the degrees printed elsewhere on this page. The Valley wanted to do something different for this, the 200th anniversary of the Scottish Rite in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. Social hour for our reunion banquet will start at 6:00 PM. Plan to make the most of this event. This is the big day for our newest brothers, who will be knighted Sublime Princes of the Royal Secret.
I continue to thank Most Wise Master Larry Egnaczyk. The chapter of Rose Croix conferred the 18th Degree and the Feast of the Paschal Lamb in the same month. I also commend Larry for trying a new time and day to hold the Feast and the light meal to follow. Congratulations also go to Sovereign Prince Dave Barnello for conferring another memorable 16th degree. Both Dave and Larry have served this Valley very well, giving two terms of service in their offices. Your steadfastness helps keep the Valley moving forward.
Next month the Valley will elect and install new officers, including a new Commander-in-Chief. I have felt honored to serve with my brother presiding officers both years of my term. Thrice Potent Masters Craig Cobb and Gary Kall helped the Lodge of Perfection prepare for the future. Sovereign Prince Dave Barnello and Most Wise Master Larry Egnaczyk have been at my side my whole term. The past has been good to the Valley of Syracuse, and the future looks bright. Job well done, Brothers!

Greetings,
I hope everyone made it through the winter safely. We can start to see evidence of Spring starting to appear through what little snow is still on the ground. I welcome back our Brothers and Sisters who have returned from warmer climates and can rejoin us in Chapter or Lodge.
I want to thank all who participated in the Degrees at the Joint meeting in the Valley of Utica, especially new cast members for getting involved and showing interest in our Ritual.
I want to thank the Reverend Dr. John Fulton of the Rockefeller United Methodist Church for being our speaker at The Feast of the Paschal Lamb in March. Your message was appreciated and well received by all who attended this very important ceremony in memory of those Scottish Rite Brothers who have left our rolls this past year. Thank you to everyone who took a part in this special event for our Valley. The buffet dinner was delicious and I thank Jim and the Ladies for arranging the food for us to enjoy.
Soon we will be electing new Officers and Body Heads to guide us through another Masonic year in The Valley of Syracuse. I welcome your commitment to Masonry and wish you the success and support you all deserve.
Fraternally,
Lawrence W. Egnaczyk, 32° DSA

Save the Date and Give us a Call- The 2013 Recognition Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30 PM at the OES Campus Pavilion
We would be thrilled to have you attend but you need to give us a call by May 28th so we can assure of a seat and some tasty treats after. We will be honoring our 22 students, 6 tutors and 5 scholars at this joyous event. It is a great opportunity to really “see” what we have been doing at the Center since last September.
This year we are pleased to have Pam Fahy speak to us at the Ceremony. Many of you may have seen Pam at COD or met her with her daughter, Erica, who was one of our first students at the Center and the first one to “graduate” (reach her grade level of reading while at the Center). Pam can bring a special view to all as she is a parent and has also served as parent liaison and, until recently, a member of our Center Board.
As you can imagine we are busily preparing for the end of this academic year and also attempting to get ready for the upcoming year. 2013-2014 will be the ninth year of the Center’s existence. (Can you believe that a decade of service is soon to be upon us?) We face new challenges each year – not the least of which is funding. With a great deal of thanks to your continued support, we also know that the next few years will bring new challenges in meeting our annual budget needs. Bill Ziemer, from Headquarters in Lexington, MA will be here on the 20th of March to visit the Center and address the Board on upcoming needs and new ventures.
Carin Illig, the Director of clinical affairs of the Centers will be coming to visit in early July of this year. It is important that these oversight visits are made to help ensure our continued certification through IMSLEC (International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council) and, now, IDA (International Dyslexia Association).
We know that we will always have challenges to meet to keep our program going but we hope you get a chance to join us in June to see what wonderful things are happening because of your continued support.
I will bring you more news of Ryan next article. His tutor, John P., lost his wife suddenly and John and Ryan are getting back on track as I write.
As always- Thank You for being there!

Hospitaler
Brothers,
This past months have brought much to the Valley Hospitaler’s attention. Several brothers have laid down their working tools, including Brothers Ray DiPietro, Ray Clapper and Mike Gunn. Please hold their families in your prayers. Distinguished Brothers Bob Eggleston and George Black and Brother Norm Kruth face serious health issues. Brother Victor Williams has experienced several hospitalizations and other challenges. The Great Architect is always ready to hear our prayers. Keep the Brothers in the Valley who are suffering from any kind of adversity in your prayers. This is the first of many stones we use in building a cathedral of care and understanding for our Brothers.
